Hi There Audio buddies,
I am busy with a Luxman R-1030 and have recapped it completely. Is sounds very well and almost everything works fine except the tuner section. When it is set to FM-stereo, the right channel is less loud than the left channel. When set to mono, both channels are evenly powerful. My knowledge of the tuner section is not very well, so I would appreciate some pointers if anyone has them.

I don't remember how the tuner responded. I didn't test it on the radio, I think.
How can I test the radio signal? I can see that I have a radio signal on my scoop, but can't measure the different levels for left or right.
I measure the left and right signal after the low pass filter.

Ok, slap me silly!
Yesterday, I was trying to figure out why the receiver didn't have balanced output signals left and right. Phono, Aux, Tape had both channels the same output. But, when switching to FM-stereo one channel was weak. I was desoldering some component around the Low-pass filter of the FM board. To see if the components were ok. Today I reassembled everything to test it out and low and behold....it worked like a charm.
I am going to test this bugger really long and good.....
If someone has a tip on this phenomenon, please feel free to react.

I have an R-1050 all works well except aAM almost non existent and FM slightly weak. I replacedd the HA 1197 chip and now AM is weak and FM is sorta OK but not great. Found when moving receiver when on FM suddenly FM came booming in when I let go of s-chassis it faded back. So I tried am and same thing - when chassis is tweaked from corner to corner signal strength comes and goes. Rechecked soldering on HA-1197 all OK.. now when I tap ot push lightly on the big open air tuner gang ( air cap ) it comes and goes. Anyone seen this ? Anyone have suggestions of what to look for ?
