Luxman R-1070

I found this beauty at a garden club sale. The rosewood case is perfect with just a wax job to finish it off. Initial test is wonderful with clean controls. This seems to be relatively rare. Any thoughts to the value? I am thinking this may be a replacement for one of my Pioneer receivers.

That is one of the best receivers ever made. The rosewood vinyl is really nice and the unit is worth 500 give or take a few bills.

It should easily best any Pioneer of equal wattage without being plugged in and better the bigger ones when used within the limits of the 70 wpc amp in the receiver. Very nice acquisition. I want one, only one of the line I haven't had.

Thanks for your insight! I have a Pioneer SX-980 that is in storage that likely will be out the door with this addition to the line up. After a few hours of listening I like the sound and the understated design. The price for the RX was $10 by the way. One of the best purchases I have made.

After eight hours of mixed listening with HPM100's, NS-100M's, and Magneplanar's as the sound stage the Luxman is a keeper! I plan now to find other Luxman stuff to build a nice stack.

I knew the Pio would be the loser in this comparison when you mentioned you had a 1070 and something might go. They are that good. That era of Luxman was all about sound quality, Luxman sound quality, and it shows.

One of the better sounding receivers from that era. I enjoyed the one I had very much.

They're like B&W speakers; not impressive at first listen, but about halfway through an album you realize how musical it is.
