Luxman R-1120A issues

So awhile back I got a Luxman R-1120A receiver with 3 out of the 4 dial lamps burnt out, although it otherwise appeared to be working properly and sounded great. I finally got around to replacing the bulbs, I used 12V/70mA rather than the original 12V/100mA since the latter is hard to come by. The lamps were all working for a little bit. Before buttoning it all back up, I decided to make sure everything still worked one more time. The 1.5A/250V fuse immediately blew and the lamps and tuner stopped working. Hmm... replaced the fuse with 1.5A/250V, fast blow. Blew again. Hmm... maybe it needs a slow-blow fuse. Blew the slow-blow. Damn. Not sure what to do now.

Anybody have an idea what is going on here? Better yet, does anyone have a service manual?

Service manual is available at HiFi Engine. I don't see a 1.5A fuse, the lamps and speaker protection relay circuit are run from the same power transformer winding and is fused by a .8A (?) fuse. I say remove the new lamps and see if works.

I have that one; it's for the R-1120, not the R-1120A. I'll try removing the lamps from the circuit, and hopefully my problem will go away.
 
Well this is embarrassing.

A piece of the tubing that I had put over the soldered leads wasnt quite as long as I thought it was and was shorting one of the bulbs. Problem solved.
 
I did the same thing after I replaced the bulbs on my Yamaha amp.
Tested it while everything was apart and it was good. Finagled all of the wires and bulbs into their sockets and screwed it back together, dead fuse as soon as I powered it up. Took everything back apart, new fuse and dead fuse again.
Removed the 6 bulbs and checked over each one and the tiniest bit of solder was poking out of the heat shrink making contact with the other lead. I was irritated but happy it was an easy fix.
