Luxman R-115 find

Have to post about this one. Picked up Luxman r-115 for free. Minty condition. User said right channel was dead.. A little deoxit later and I'm enjoying the great sound on both chAnnels. I was worried because I already had one of these with a slightly weak right channel that I was never able to resolve.

Yes...Nice find and use cleaner thru out ....Not sure with the R-115...but the R-117 Speaker relays are known issues. They do not age well. Have a R-117 Recap thread with full replacement
of the speaker relays.
 
I had just picked up a Technics sa-828 yesterday off this fella nearby. While picking it up he had shown me a room full of nice equipment. Checking the site today, he has a Luxman r-115 for around $100cdn. Is that about the going rate for this unit?

I'm not as familiar with the Luxman receivers as I am with their separates, but a quick search says that if this is a working unit it's a nice price. Again, I'm not the resident expert, but I will say that this model is from the Alpine era; not as highly regarded or as coveted as the R series receivers. But I have not heard it, so if you have an opportunity to audition it, by all means check it out!

Sounds like a good price. The R-115 is the little brother of the R-117 which is one of the all time nicest biggest receivers made. However neither are famous for their reliability as has already been said. The 115 is less stressed than the 117 is though.
 
I just done some research on the 115. These units have the video inputs, so am assuming they are circa 1990, much like my Sony ES? There are two units on Ebay for at least us$200 which is about cdn$250. Do they have the Dolby ProLogic?
 
It's a good deal. My 115 gets daily use and I never had any issues with it. I've had other issues with other luxman's but not this one

No. They are not a theatre surround amp.
 
My 115 is powering a set of Energy C-7`s and a set of Audioanalyst A-200`s . It really rocks the house . Literally
