Luxman R-115 Remote

I recently acquired a R-115 from a local audio 'collector' who's thinning out his inventory. This receiver was advertised as being like new, and that's no lie! It really does look like it's recently been unboxed for the first time. Besides a little scratchiness at one point on the volume control, it performs and sounds great. I also got a pristine pair of ads L780/2 speakers with it, and the combination of this receiver and speakers sounds amazing. For two channel music, it blows away my nice 7.1 setup.

The only thing wrong is the missing remote control; it was missing when he bought it. I've tried a couple universal remotes, and the Luxman codes do not work for it. There are a couple pre-programmed remotes on Amazon and eBay, but I don't like these. They each have tons of buttons that cannot be programmed for other devices, according to the sellers, which is pretty annoying. Other than buying one of these and then programming a learning remote, or buying an OEM Luxman remote for around $100, what are my options? Have others had any luck with any universal remotes controlling this (or the R-117)? If so, I'd love to hear about what works with this receiver. Thanks!

The R-115 remote is spendy because it can also drive the R-117 same buttons, just one missing button, Video-2.

Might find one in an AKers pile of extra remotes but other than that the bay might have one for you eventually. Past sales have been 45, 50 and 65 before getting to the current listing prices of 75 and up.

Or just buy another R-115 with a remote for a couple bills. Harder to find cause folks are splitting up the two I would guess.

Yeah, the cheapest on the auction site are almost as much as the receiver cost, and the pricier ones cost more. I'll do a bit of research on the Harmony. I'd sure like to be able to watch that motorized remote from my chair! Thanks!

I've got a Harmony 350 and 600 and both work with my R-115.
That's good to hear. How do the input selections work on the Harmony? I know on the factory remote, there's a button for each input. Does the Harmony have enough buttons to do that, or do you use the red, blue, green, yellow or numeric keys for that? Thanks!

The Harmony 600 lets you drag and drop different functions to the button of your choice.

I'm using an ooooold logitech harmony one with the r-115 and it works perfectly. Also controls the luxman record and cd players and velodyne sub.
