Luxman R-117 Help me

That is probably a good idea but if you build the dim bulb tester and see if it dims there may be some help from the great minds here first.
If that doesn't work or you're not comfortable trying to fix it yourself you should post your location and someone here might be able to help you find a reliable tech.

Can you post a couple of pictures of the front and back of your r-117 when you get the chance.
How would I dim bulb test it if I can’t get a fuse in it without the fuse blowing up

It shouldn't blow when you start with a 60w bulb, if it dims after that then the r-117 would probably need at la 100w bulb or more to come out of protection and dim. If it does there may be a minor problem someone here can help you diagnose.

I may have to take it in , others are saying it’s worth fixing and I think this is more then I can handle with my multimeter and basic soldering skills

It's admiral you'd like to trouble shoot it and give it a shot at repairing but as someone mentioned earlier in this thread it's NOT a unit you want to learn on.

Per a previous thread you posted take your current rig, go off to school and enjoy! deal with the Luxman when the time is right and by deal have a knowledgeable tech go through it.

That might be the move honestly it’s probably not a simple fix

If that's your plan I would post a thread looking for possible Luxman techs in your area, you may have one of the good ones from here near you.
Good luck and let us know if you get her singing again.

[/ QUOTE]
