OK so I couldn’t resist buying another RX 101 (also) cheaply, and replaced belt, of course the very delicate limit switch fell apart. Or was already broken from previous owners repair attempt.
Anybody that’s opened one of these up knows how ridiculously complicated and over engineered this cool little suckface gimmick is. Of course the switch is unobtainium, so why not re-wire and bypass it, thereby fooling the unit to enable volume - as it won’t produce sound if that switch is not properly functioning, with the face retracted.
For 30 bucks couldn’t go wrong, and had the belt on hand - but it would be nice to help any Luxman servo face owners that have similar issues. Getting into the unit is like a root canal, but doable and once you’re there and reach the motor and belt gear assembly, you’ll scratch your head and see the craziness.
