I got this as part of a Luxman set of seperates.....i thought i would have a look inside and post the pics here.....

**It is a T-105 not a T-100 as i stated in the title.....sorry....**

Oooh, a Luxman custom IC among all the Sanyo and Toshiba, and Hitachi......

Well there it is........about to fire it up.......i will report back on the results......

Found on the net....

"Luxman's Japanese site shows only two more tuners made after the Alpine take-over in 1984: the T-105 (1984, 44,800 yen) and the T-117 (1987, 59,800 yen, photo). They were priced at $420 and $600 in the U.S. The T-105 had an unusually mediocre distortion spec (0.15%) for a Luxman. It was clearly a commodity product made quickly to give the exotic LV-105 BRID amp a cosmetically matching black tuner. The 1987 T-117, however, was a serious comeback effort. It registered the best specs of all Luxmans (1.5 uV sensitivity, 0.04% distortion) and it was also the thinnest at 2.5". It earned a Class A rating from Stereophile"

Trust me to get the rubbishy model......sigh..........

At least they put some thought into it. I've seen tuners the same size with a couple little tiny circuit boards--and that's it. Although there's not much to that transformer and power supply cap! Cool looking tuner, though.

I was kind of expecting a box of fresh air as well......it looks well made and it sounds ok from a bit of listening this afternoon.......
 
Got one recently, as an addition to the LV103, but it wasn't in working order. It buzzed like crazy, really not convenient; sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. A small tap on the side would set things straight for a few seconds to a few hours...
I thought it might be a ground loop or something. Took it all apart and found out the connection to the RCA out were loose. three little soldering points later and we're back in business!

It is not receiving stereo anymore though, I don't know why. (it didn't before I fixed it iether)
