Luxman TP-117 remote sensor

Hi all! Been away for a while, back recently, and I have a question about the Luxman X-117 series - specifically around remote sensors. Right now my setup is as shown:

I'm using my R-117 as a power amp, controlled by the TP-117 above it. I have the stock RTP-117 remote (thank god, because the TP-117 is next to useless without it), but I want to set up a second system using the LV-105u amp (sitting to the left of my Thorens). As I understand it, the TP-117 can only control a second system by using one of the coax IR receivers that originally came with the unit - the RC 501. They're extremely hard to come by, it seems. I'm not sure if the connection is proprietary, however. The connection on the back is simply coax. Image from a unit sold on Canuck Audio Mart:

My question then is, do I need to troll around until one of these miraculously comes up on the market, or can I just get any IR-to-coax adapter? There seem to be plenty of options, and they're pretty cheap. I can grab one and see if it works, but wondered if anyone had any insight before I jumped. Or if anyone had any insight into finding a RC-501 without waiting for the heat death of the universe.

Thanks!
