M-60 amp grounding

Yamaha put a ground connection on back of the M-60 amp and say to ground it if there is hum or noise. The power cord is not grounded, which seems weird for an amp with this much circuitry? I hooked a temporary ground to the house AC plug and I think it does sound better. My preamps are all not grounded so is there any point grounding the amp to their phono ground connection? I have been working on restoring this M-60 amp for a while and trying to work out some sound issues. Curious what others have done about grounding these 80’s Yamaha amps?1794111558895.jpeg

Never connect a systems GND to earth GND in a wall socket. In the panel box for the house the GND is bonded to the neutral . Neutral has AC voltage on it.

Remove it.

What sound issues are you having?
