M-80 with C-80...very pleased.

Thanks to some opinions given here, I purchased both an M-80 power amp and a C-80 Pre-amp this past week. What a great combination! Thanks.

The pair sounds very warm with lots of good bass when wired with one lead "inverted" at the C-80. With my Polk SDA SRS 2.3s, it's a match made in heaven. I'm really impressed with these 80s pieces and very pleased.

Thanks again for your comments and advice. Now I'll be on the lookout for a T-80 tuner...trying to keep the synergy going.

That Yamaha combination of the M-80 and C-80 are magnificant audio pieces to have. You got yourself an excellent audio setup there. Yes, the T-80 would definitely 'complete' that Yamaha set.
Did a quick search on Ebay and there were a few T-80's available with this one having the lowest price?!.....

I noticed that the Yamaha T-80 that I listed on my previous post (Ebay) is "Sold", by chance were you the one that scored it?! :scratch2:

No I'm still using my T-1020 for a tuner. Wasn't me.

Don't overlook the T-7 as an excellent tuner, unless you want a trifecta of all double-digit model Yamahas. It's an analog tuner, but has motorized drive that works beautifully--locks right onto a station. I like the display also, with LED bars on each side of the tuning pointer. No I'm still using my T-1020 for a tuner.

That is a fine tuna

I understand if you want a mated system but I dont believe you'll hear a difference between the T80 and T-1020, maybe the 1020 would better the 80

Now... the T-2 is another story

tygr: Do you use the Class A very often? It sure generates plenty of heat at idle, I find.

Since mine fits tighter in an enclosed rack, I can get away with a couple of 12VDC CPU fans, just laying on top of my M80, wired in series so they run at half speed. I use a 12V wall wart power supply to power them. With the airflow in the up direction, it draws plenty of air up through the chassis to help cool the front central portion of the amp. No pictures, sorry, can't really see anything when in the rack and I am not pulling the amp out just for pictures. It would make a great boat anchor, so I move it as little as possible.
