M&K SV-200b hybrid tower speakers - $1600 (Austin)

I'm a fan of M&K, but the price is a little too stout for me. There was a pair that needed the amps repaired on CL last year for $200. I like the look and I bet that they sound great. From the ad:

Beautifully made by Ken Kreisel these are rare and wonderful speakers that are gorgeous and great sounding. Each tower holds a 12" powered Volkswoofer which has a potentiometer to control levels. The mid and frequency drivers have individual controls as well.

Mr Kreisel himself helped us with the restoration of these speakers which come with all of their paperwork and original parts. Wooden grilles are in excellent condition and include the M&K logo badges.

I assure you that you will not ever have another opportunity to own and enjoy these speakers that were a "passion project" for Miller & Kreisel back in their golden years.

They didn't sell at $1600 so the seller raised the price to $3200 after a week. Interesting marketing strategy.

Well well well, look what we have here...a picture of MY pair of SV-200b's, in MY living room (located in Las Vegas, NV), which have NEVER been for sale, ever (especially in TX!). Those in the picture are serial numbers 501 and 502...NOT 638 and 640, for the record. And Ken Kreisel himself did not help this person with the "restoration"...Ken helped me out (with schematics/docs) when I fully restored mine. Much later down the road, this person joined AK and I helped him with his capacitors and potentiometers. Some of the description and all pictures were lifted from my actual restoration thread about my personal pair.

He did the same thing on eBay recently as well, but pulled the listing today after contacting him about the pictures. Every single picture in that ad is mine, from my AK thread. There isn't one pic of his actual pair. It looks like they are back on the market with an asking price of $1200, if they are indeed the same speakers, and the price includes three M&K Satellite 2b speakers. The description is different from the last time they posted for sale, so it may be a different seller. From the CL ad:

5 speakers and two subwoofers total.

Very very rare and completely in "collector" condition. New capacitors and pots in the two powered Volkswoofer subwoofer amplifiers. New grill frame fabric. These are perhaps Miller and Kreisel's finest speaker ever (and rumored that the expense to make them was part of the reason of M&K's financial problems).

Comes with THREE additional M&K Satellite 2B speakers for a complete 5.2 surround sound speaker set.

All wood is in excellent condition. One grill frame is cracked but is hidden behind fabric.

These have been on my 'wanted' list, but I bought a pair of Aerials this week, which I thoroughly enjoy, and drained the speaker account.

6 years after, I found my own pair of SV-200B, in pristine cabinet condition. I was afraid the amps won't be working but they did. The subwoofer drivers needed refoam so I pulled the drivers from my two V2Bs. Absolutely wonderful sounding. Sadly no one seemed to know about the speakers, like cold reception lol. Posted in Original Miller and Kreisel Speakers group in FB.

I cringed when you said you replaced the woofers. Granted I know nothing about the replacement woofers you used.
But since these speakers seem to be highly regarded and maybe rare, just wondering why you didn't refoam the OEM woofers, either DIY or a pro service?

Please don't throw away the woofers that need refoaming. Could be a significant drop in value should you decide to sell these in the future.

I used an updated MK 12 sub driver, while the orig sub is waiting for a refoam. ( I can do it, but too lazy to start.) The replacement actually goes deeper than the original, but I will put back the original once refoamed. Just elated that the plate amps needed no work.
