Back in 2017 (??) I purchased an MA5200, which was my first McIntosh component. It served me well before being upgraded to a MAC7200. With the arrival of the MAC7200, the MA5200 went into the closet. Three weeks ago, I packed it up, bolted it down in the original McIntosh double box, and shipped it half-way across the country to our winter residence close-by Palm Springs, CA.
I had serious fear about shipping it -- but it was received in California with the box looking good, and then sat for a few weeks until we arrived and I had a chance to unpack it .. today.
So happy to report it survived the journey going UPS ground, insured to the hilt, and is now streaming (nothing fancy for a source) and sounding great.
I had considered trading the unit in Madison for an NAD M33, but the offer on the trade was pretty putrid -- so just bit the bullet and crossed my fingers, and packed it carefully, like McIntosh recommends, said a prayer or two, and sent it on its way.
There's a lot of life in the MA5200. So glad I had the courage to send it out here.
