MAC 4100 Need Help Please.

My MAC 4100 has this very annoying problem of making a “ loud popping sound” in my left channel when turning off the receiver. It doesn't happen always, I would say about50% of the time
It's only left channel. The popping sound is somewhat similar to toy cap gun. I have my 4100 running the Klipschorns and I don't want to blow my tweeter. I wondered if there could be some well known problem common to the MAC 4100 ? Thanks.

Sounds like a speaker relay may be failing. I don't know how common it is in the 4100 but it should be addressed promptly. In the meantime, you should absolutely shut off the speaker switch before turning the receiver off. Probably not a bad idea to leave the speaker button in the out position before powering back on again until the output circuits have a chance to stabilize.

I would suggest sending it out to Audio Classics and order a shipping box from them.

Isn't the speaker relay a simple plug and play part?

I'm in Europe (Poland) My MAC had full Service in an excellent well-known Media-tech Hi End audio service place. They work on McIntosh gear all the time. I have all the written and photo documentation of the service. The speaker relays are replaced. This is why we're not sure what is going on.
