MAC #60 & record compensator ?

Terry, I may just have the vintage speaker angle covered, same place where this gear came from. A little more info re the owner, he ended up working for the C.B.C. ie the Canadian broadcasting corporation, after doing work with Rank. I have some very interesting sales bill,s & original literature showing period gear. I did send you a direct
Email inquiry re the Mac 60 this morning.

is there any tracking of serial #,s ie very early production etc?
As you can see I KNOW NOTHING. other than not to plug it in. :D
Hello Totem,
Congrats on your great find. :)

I can help a little on the date of this amp. My info shows the MC60 was first made in August 1955 starting with #500 and went on to March 1958 #7116 then the numbering system changed and March 1958 1F001 was used to 6F635 the last MC60 in August 1961. so plug in your # and you could guess the date it was made. It looks like 12252 MC60s were made and your mission should you choose to accept it is to bring one of those back to life. :)

I bought an MC60 and C8 in much the same condition years ago. Sold the C8. Found another MC60 on ebay. Sent both to Terry D. and they sound fabulous!!

The cover being on backwards has of course led me inside. As you can see in the upper right hand corner we have a damaged component. Other wise every thing looks original. And I do say the Mac logo looks much better where it belongs. :D

Stop looking at your loot and go get me that Garrad 301 would ya?

still to come

scott0527 I still do not have the Garrard, but did get a better look at it on Friday.
It is mounted on a non stock plinth ie special of the period c/w original spring mount on all four corners rather interesting. The arm is not a standard Garrard but a ESL electrosonic.
I found a receipt in some of the paper work for it.
There is also a REK-O-KUT table for 45,s same period. have paper work for this also.
may be a L-34 or L-37?? I do not have this yet, but will see.

Congrats on the Mac stuff. I think you will love it. I got a pair of MC40's about a year ago.

DEFINATELY get that Garrard 301. You will be well on your way to having a dream system. Lots of info on the web about getting them back to like new, along with building a new HEAVY MASS plinth. Lots of talk about re-plinthing Lenco's on various audio sites, which will give you lots of info on your 301. If you don't make the effort to get the 301, you will be kicking yourself for years.
