Mac4100 compared to MC2505/MX110z

beautiful 4100, 62caddy!
In the picture, the volume is up, the mode is FM, the #1 speakers are on, but the meters are not lighting up.
Did you take the picture when the broadcast was silent?
I love my 4100.

Good eye but you missed the TAPE 1 button is depressed because the 4100 is connected to a CR7- on which I probably had the input selected for CD player that was not playing anything at the time the photo was shot.

I also have the MAC1500 REC OUT connected to the AUX 1 input of the MAC4100. Then by using the TAPE COPY 1>2 switch of the 4100, the volume of the MAC1500 can also be remote controlled by the CR7. The MAC4100 doesn't even need to be turned on when using the CR7 with the MAC1500 because the signal from the 4100's AUX to RECORD out jacks is passive.

The REC OUT 2 jacks of the MAC4100 are also connected to the 1500's TAPE MONITOR input.

The 1500's tuner can also be played through the 4100 and visa versa.

That’s amazing @62caddy! I’m sure your brother is going to be thrilled and I’m sure they are going to enjoy that for a long while. That Mac4100 looks really good - as well as that entire setup! It’s such a great piece. What speaker(s) do you have the 4100 hooked up to?

I’ve been slowly acquiring and building my father’s system so that he can finally have the Mc system that he’s wanted for decades. Gave him my MC2100, c27, and MR78 that he’s been really enjoying. I picked up the MCD7007 for him the other week to get restored and to surprise him on his birthday. Especially with him staying in so much these days - sometimes the beautiful reproduction of his favorite Mahler symphonies in the evening provides a much needed emotional escape for a while.

I guess I’m torn on the MC2505..perhaps I’ll hold off for now. Just got word my Mac4100 is ready and waiting so I’ll enjoy that in the mean time.

Thank you for everyone’s feedback on the MC2505/MX113 combo. It has helped me a great deal in realizing that one day I’ll definitely pick one up. There are so many vintage Mc’s I want because they seem to all have their quirks and contributions in reproducing sound — MA230, Mac1500, MC2505/2255, c20/c11. Gosh the list goes on. I guess that’s how it starts and before you know it you have racks of Mc gear.

Regardless, thank you all again so much.

thank you for sharing - your setup looks so great together! What kind of speakers are those??
Speakers are Polk LS-50 mains with a Velodyne F 12" sub. I'm very happy with the system. There is decent bass output down to 40 Hz but i have the sub xover set at 70 Hz to fill out the low end better.

Beautiful system! Although I’ve never heard the LS70s in person, I’ve only read great things about those speakers. I’ve never been into a lot of bass- so if the mids and highs are good with a nice fill out on the lower end, I’m very happy.
