Macintosh MA 6200 Question

Hey guys,

I have a Macintosh MA 6200 integrated amp that I would like to try and use as a preamp for my Dynaco Mk. III monoblock amplifiers. My PAS II is on the fritz and so I have these monoblocks and would like to hook'em up to the Mac.

The mac has a set of jumpers on the back labeled Preamp out/Amp In. I was thinking of pulling the jumpers out and hooking up the amps.

However, the manual has a section called "Connecting a Macintosh Equalizer" that describes using the preamp out/amp in jumper connections to a Macintosh "Custom Environmental Equalizer". Whatever that is ?!
So, Can I just jumper out to my monoblocks without ruining the Mac, or the monoblocks? There is no discussion in the manual of using the unit as a preamp. BUT, I see those jumpers.

Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance...

Regards,

The amp section of the 6200 input sensitivity is 2.7 volts so the pre-amp out will easily drive the Dynaco amps. Just be care full you can over drive the amps with the same setting you use for the 6200 amp section. Remember the Dynacos don't have Power Guard so you can easily over drive your amps.

Back in the day when your 6200 was being built some speakers, Mac, Bose, HME, etc required room equalizers to get the best result. So thats why the jacks were labeled as such. In fact all speakers should be used with room equalizers as no room is perfect. Check out a Mac. MEN 220 Room Perfect eq some time. It will work perfectly with your 6200.

Thanks twiiii, When you mean overdrive the amps, do you mean cranking the volume? I never push my gear in that way, and usually listen at a reasonable to moderate level anyway. Thanks again...
