On my trip yesterday I passed through Madison and saw a few decent peices at the GW off 39/90...

Modern H/K rec. & CD player (DH1000?)

Epicure 1000X (?) i think, nice, need foam. Very cool tweeters

BIC Venturis, perfect (i think)

Bose 201 series II, black. Very nice. $10 I believe.

couple other things I'm sure I've forgotten.

I couldn't justify bringing this stuff home on this trip, but someone local might. Just thought I'd pass it on...

Were the 1000s very large, tall speakers?

If so, get them.

I went back through after a week, the EPI's were still there. Thought I'd grab 'em, but during that time some considerate genius ripped the tweets out. Not removed and stole, but in a manner which left the outer rings and leads a' flappin'.

Ah well. Can't save 'em all.

Those tweeters are fairly easy to come by, but EPI 1000's aren't. If they are the 6 foot tall, real deal like in the link, you really should think about getting them.

What thrift exactly was this? I checked goodwill on the east side right off of 39/90 and saw nada. BPC everywhere.

I'm not a local... but happened to stop in to this one. Right off 39/90, in a retail-burb type development... home depot, BB+B, Best Buy, etc... Think it's the only one around that stretch.

Must have hopped in on a random lucky day...
