Hi all,

I was reading a lot of threads about changing the output amps :scratch2:
on the Magnavox 175-67 amps, what improvement would this upgrade give me, I'm still looking for better bass and all
around better stuff or just sell it and use my Scott LK-48 amp all the time, because it really sounding good! :music:

Thanks to all

I upgraded my AMP 175-67 with an old pair of ultra-linear tapped output transformers from an old Knight KB-85 amplifier, and added 6L6GC's. Sounds awsome but it didn't add any more power but did improve the frequency response.

If I want more power, I'll have to switch out the power transformer. I have one out of an old black & white TV set which puts out 450-0-450 on the high voltage side, but I enjoy it as it is. Besides, I am too lazy :D to dig into it again!

I'll have to see if I can dig up some pics!

Here's a couple of pics:

The AMP 175 is on the right. A Magnavox SS 30 watt amp is on the left.

Both are mounted on the wall in my barn so I couldn't show bottom pics. PS, the 175 still has the original can electrolytic and still going strong!

EDIT: Before anyone says anything about the original can, it has absolutely no hum, and I just got done listening to a 3 hour music session, and the can is ice cold to the touch, and the power transformer is barely luke warm.
