Magnavox 175 Monoblocks

My ears have been leaning towards the GE's, also. Last year, when Jay visited Memphis on the way to the Southern Fest, we re-tubed my Almarro A205A with GE blackplate EL-84s with a GE blackplate 5751. It was amazing the overall difference in s/q, and I had rolled a bunch of other tubes prior to that. They are keepers, and quenched my rolling thirst through that amp.

Speaking of Amperex, Jay slipped a pair of these Orange Globes in my pocket as I was leaving, for my Manley Shrimp.:music: It'll be interesting to hear how they compare to the stock 12AT7EH Electro-Harmonix.

Hey Ken, I'm curious as to your impression of the Amperex AT7s? Have you tried them yet, and if so, give us a report (the good AND the bad).

Not yet, Jay. I gotta pull the Shrimp out the main rig, and it gets used on the weekends for TV. Tonight? #2 Tenn vs #1 U of M, along with the Klitschko vs Ibragimov fight. I'll roll them in soon and post the results.

Go Memphis!:thmbsp:

I'm a transplant from the Palmetto State.:smoke:

Same here. LOL! Talk about coincidence. I was born on Ft Jackson, and my Mom is from Sandy Run, and Dad is from the Olympia section of Columbia. Went to private military school in Bamberg, and the Citadel in Charleston.

I moved to Knoxville to attend graduate school, and even though I physically reside in the people's republic of Tarbaby land, I still keep my permanent residency in Fountain City, which is in north K'Town.

Love them Hills and them VOLS!

Cool. My parents were raised in Hartsville, SC. I was raised in small town outside of Greenville; Fountain Inn.

Wofford College, Class of '82 here.:thmbsp:

I used to date a girl from Simpsonville, attended C Square, and passed by your hometown many a time on the interstate. Small world isn't it?

Even back then, there were many fine lookin' gals that went to the College of Charleston.

Good to see another sandlapper here.:thmbsp:

C Square = Columbia College. Lots of Fine Southern Flesh! But I did take up with one from College of Charleston too. :thmbsp:

PS: not at the same time, of course. That would be ungentlemanly.

Don't forget about those Converse College gals, either.

BTY, those two mono-blocks, did they come out of two entirely different 'pulls'? And how did you pick them up? I don't remember reading the history of them earlier.
