Magnavox astrosonic + Lepai 2020

image.jpeg Looking for some kind person to help as I am not great with these things. Recently I ran across a free magnavox astro sonic console system from the 60's and lugged it home. Speakers/tweeters are intact, sound great, and tuner plays. Pots are scratchy and respond only some to tuner cleaner. Aux accepts iPhone input but holding the stereo miniplug kinda zaps you a little. I'm sure the whole thing needs new capacitors, and the wiring needs checked out for safety's sake. However, I also happen to have a Lepai lp2020+ amplifier lying around.

What are the chances of just running the speakers through the lepai and skipping over the built in magma box amp until I can one day take it to a qualified repairman? Would it harm the speakers/crossover/tweeters? Kill the lepai? Not work at all?

The original paper wire diagram diagram inside says its 35 watts so I don't think it will hurt the speakers but I don't understand whether the crossover would work or blow up.

Here is the diagram.

Are you using De-oxit D5 on the pots, as that is the absolute best cleaner for them. As for the Lepai, it should do no harm to your crossovers.

Thanks for the help. I'm using "Radio Shack TV Tuner Cleaner" because that's all I've used since the 70s when tv's had tuners. I'll look for the DEoxit D5.

If I can get a decent sound out of the lepai and can figure out the speaker wiring I may skip the built in amp and move forward from here. I don't fancy getting myself electri-fried.
