Magnavox CD 2000 CD player Repair

Need help if gettting this Magnavox CD player to read disc. Lens has been clean and some times it loads CD but can take up to 15 seconds then the play and other buttons don’t work.

1. Is the swing arm laser in the right resting place? Won’t stay close to center when moved
2. Why won’t the play or forward buttons not working
