I've got a Magnavox CDB-471 that has worked for years but has recently stopped being able to play cd's. I get the ERR code on some cd's where the player is unable to read the TOC. On other cd's, it can read the TOC but it will only play part of a song and then throw the ERR code.
I have a service manual but it's in German. I'm not sure how to put the player into service mode to check it out with my oscilloscope. I thought it was by pressing and holding the STOP/CM, NEXT and PAUSE keys and then turning the cd player on but that's not working.
In testing, the transport sometimes makes a banging noise. For instance, if the player reads the TOC and I use the NEXT button to skip to track 6 and then press PLAY, the transport will try to access track 6 and make a banging sound, like it's moved to the end of its track and then throws the ERR code.
Does this sound like the 33uf servo cap problem?
thanks in advance for the help :thmbsp:
