This looks a lot like a couple of the tubed Maggie consoles I've snagged. The perforated back and the smaller brown knobs are solid clues for tubes. I got a singled ended EL84 out of one and a PP 6V6 out of the other, so if you're close it might be worth a look.

Yep, I'd guess that it likely has an 86xx chassis in there. Very sweet SE 6BQ5 amp. Definitely worth a 20!

EDIT: Woo-hoo! Just realized that this is my 1000th post!

AA is right, that would be a major scroe for $20. The TT alone is worth that. The amp chassis, even if you have no use for it, is likely worth a Benny on ebay. This may not be a TOTL Maggie of the period, but it's certainly worthy of a local picking it up. Hopefully, a local AKer has a snipe bid set.

wow I just saw your post after I won the auction for that tonight!! I think it has the 8601 in it most likely. Trying to arrange how to get it to Indiana right now :)
 
I am looking into uship, but I looks like its going to be pretty stupid expensive.

If anyone is going through Marseilles IL to Indiana, could it ride the AK express? Its a tiny little thing, 3 foot by 2 foot by 1 1/2 foot deep, so it could fit in someones car pretty easily. I could meet half way :thmbsp:
 
Is this thing actually in Marseilles? I grew up in that 5000 person craphole and might even know the person selling it.

BTW, they pronounce it Mar-sales not Mar-say like in France...

Me and my girlfriend (shes really amazing to put up with a trip like this :D) went up to morris to pick it up. Fit in the back seat of the car :)

We explored the canal district up there, it was very pretty. Trip was way too long, I won't be doing that again to pick up something like this.

Got it home and opened it up, yup, 8601! And it is dirty as crap in there. Wasn't expecting that with the condition of the rest of the console. Needs filter caps, hums, wont tune very well, and the TT is dried out. I think I'm going to recap this one and clean it up. Unfortunately, someone has been in it before, there are screws missing on the back panel and the tubes have been replaced in the amp.

It has 70's style RCA block letter 6BQ5's and 6EU7.

I'll start a new thread on it with pictures in the tube section for you guys :)
