Magnavox FP1463 Linear tracking turntable needs help

Calling all vintage turntable gurus!

Hi all,

I recently hooked up my old record player from when I was a teenager in the early 80s, a Magnavox FP 1463. It was in almost perfect condition, but I was disappointed to discover that it doesn't "cue" anymore. The needle moves over to the correct spot on the record, whether it's a 45 or LP, it just won't go down on the record. The cueing button does nothing.

I was wondering if anyone had some idea of what the problem is and if it can be fixed easily. I attempted to take it apart, but after taking out all the screws from the bottom, I couldn't figure out how to get the cover off. I didn't want to cause any more problems with it so I didn't go any further.

It seems to be identical to the Sylvania member @blue72 posted about rescuing back in 2015 in this thread:

I'd really love to get it working again, as it has a lot of sentimental value to me.
Can you offer any help, insight, or advice?

Here is a short video I made of the unit:

Thank you for your time,
