Magnavox Info Needed

Question,
Does anyone know the difference between a Magnavox AMP 175-55 and a Magnavox AMP 175-DD?
I know that they are both 6V6 PP amps and most likely have about the same output etc.
I just picked up an AMP 175-DD and there are a lot of subtle differences between it and my AMP 175-55.
I was just wondering if one was better than the other?
I guess I will just have to find the schematics and study! :D

thanks,

better in terms of what. power? sound? Looks?
I say all same except different purposes.
All these maggy amps sound the same out of the box.
what makes them maybe sound diff is one being PP and others being SE.
they were made for the masses not the elete.
today its what we do to them that can improve the way they sound or not sound.
It sure aint rocket science. IMO.

The basic circuitry isn't all that different from Scott or Fisher other than Maggy favored the paraphase driver and Scott the cathodyne "concertina" while Fisher used either. Fisher & Scott amps might have more substantial output transformers, that's pretty much it.
McIntosh tube amps designwise were a totally different critter from these amps, compare them with H-K Citation and Marantz tubes if anything.

The Sams folder shows versions AA,BB, CC, DD, EE, FF. Maybe the 55 is close to one of hem... there are versions with 5U4, pair of 5Y3s, one, two, or three 6.3V heater windings, and with and without tuner power socket. All appear to be identical in amp section. And of course, email for a copy: tbavis(at)rochester(dot)rr(dot)com
