Magnavox Stereo Console Identification

Hi all, first time posting here. I came across this Magnavox Console at a goodwill in Aloha Oregon and brought it home for $15 and found out i only needed to straighten out the needle and reorganize the speaker wires to get everything to work. Im enjoying this unit alot but would like to know more about it if anyone could help me locate more information.

What I am looking for:
-Product ID and year ie "is this a 1964 Continental model?"
-Owners manual
-Proper Amp Schematic and ideas on how to rebuild and or improve amp
-Is the Turntable putting out true stereo sound?
-Is the amp a true two channel amp?
-Speaker specs

What i have so far:
-Model: 2SC287A

-Run Number: 1
-Turntable: Micromatic S600 Imperial
-Needle: EV 26; 560296-3
-Amp 1st ID: 5801-10 (Treble/Loudness/Bass/Balance knob underneath amp)

-Woofer Speaker ID: "Magnavox 581001-1"; "137 304"
-Smaller speaker id: "Magnavox 580503-1" "575303"
-Cabinet Tag (black spray paint) JO(?)-3-5; 694474-5;287-8 MAPLE
-Cabinet Stamp hidden under turntable: 287 44671 2
-Hanging from the turntable underneath is what appears to be a turntable service tag dated 1-17-1964

Congrats on the nice find. It looks like you've already done much homework on your console. There is a lot of info here on the Magnavox 8300 series SE(Single Ended) amplifier and the changer. 63 - 64 would have been a time for many tube amplifier manufacturers to transition over to transistor units. Unless it has been recapped recently be careful with powering up your unit again. 60 year old caps do not age well. Having said that I've used a variac to bring up and run old tube units until I could get them restored.

To add to what @macgolf mentioned the tube amp in your console is a 8301-10

Yes, it's a 2 channel power amp

EDIT: as of 3/24 this has amp has tone controls so it's more of an integrated amp (Power + Pre amp)

Finally finding no info on the model # you posted, maybe double check that you have that correct as Magnavox console models are easily found here and on the web.

Nope it is an S, that model # and the amp leads me to believe it was before 1964, still can't find any info on that model though.

you found my daughter's attempt to help

That thread says its a (hopefully im saying this correctly) SAM Catalog 535-9 ie a Magnavox Representative Model, though there still are some differences compared to the unit i have. My daughter downloaded a manual, its interesting how it states the model uses chassis 8301 which is the number marked on the amplifier. My nonsensical brain wants to say the wooden cabinet is the chassis, not the amplifier. Anywho, we've got some physical manuals ordered and hopefully get even more detail on it.

Its been a fun rabbit to chase down so far, still blown away by the fact this thing is working so well (perhaps im easily impressed). Ive only had to resolder a bad connection on a wire to the turntable and straighten out the needle to get some pretty decent sound out of the factory speakers (swapped in some Quartets and its a touch more impressive). I'll need to look at cleaning the pots and inspecting the metal capacitor can, ive read those can cause big problems.

I could be wrong but in the SAMS when they use the term "Representative" model it's not literally the name of that model just one of several models Magnavox paired with that particular amp.

Magnavox had model names such as Belvedere, Imperial, Symphony to name a few.

I have the 1961 catalog and your model is not in it so I'm guessing yours is from 1962
