Magnepan question

Hello all,
Just looking to get into the planar side of things. Found a pair of Magnepan
MGMC1. From what I was able to find these are primarily used as surround or main in a surround set up.
Anyone familiar with this model?
I am looking for strictly 2 channel set up for my stereo so don't know if these fit.
Should I be holding out for pair of MMG or SMG?

Hold out for the MMG pair for sure! Better yet, bag your lunches for the next six months and pick up a pair of MG-12s!
 
Whats your budget first of all and second yes hold out for something better. Then we can give a recommendation on which ones. Also how large is your listening room.
