Mahogany.. DIY Rega plinth or isolation base?

Hey all. I've been given a solid block of mahogany by a friend which has been machine to the size of a Rega plinth, however it is 2 inches thick (same dimensions as Inspired Hifi's Quest plinths).

My question is - should I stick four feet on and make an isolation base for my Planar 3 (easy option) OR do I make a plinth to fit my Rega parts onto it? (Hard option!)

Is it do-able with a pillar drill and plunge router for the motor housing?

K.

Beautiful piece of wood. I'd go easy first, make a platform and see how you like it. But I bet you end up making a plinth for your Rega.

I say, make a plinth for the Rega. It may be harder but will be worth it in the end. You will have the coolest Rega turntable ever.........
