making an adapter

I have an eico 667 and I want to test older 4, 6 and 7 pin tubes. How do people make their adapters for this type of thing? My first thought was to use a 9 pin sub miniature but I quickly realized the glass would be a problem. After carefully breaking apart a 12AT7 to conserve the base and soldering up the pins it broke apart in my hands. Doh!

4,6,7 pin sockets with wires to lugs should do the trik. use a small plastic tube filled with rtv, or epoxy to rigid things up abit. cheep and dirty.

The best way to make one is get the correct size brass rods and solder them into a 9 pin socket, cut the pins twice as long as needed so the will stick out enough when seated in the 9 pin socket .

Use a large octal base and your 4,5,6 pin socket can fit inside.
