Making the most of it.

The Sansuis aren’t particularly insanely fragile are they?
As long as you know their limits, no. Just be aware that they weren't designed for ear-splitting levels, but since you said you don't crank them loud you should be fine. Certainly much better than the speakers built into your TV (most speakers in modern TVs suck; by necessity, due to their thin cabinets, you're limited to drivers only an inch or two wide, with almost no cavity behind them). I wouldn't overly boost the bass control either. Every 3dB (a just noticeable) increase in sound level causes twice the amount of power to be sent to the woofers for those frequencies that are boosted. If you turned the bass knob all the way to the right (typically 10dB on most receivers) that's 10 times the amount of bass power.

Yeah I basically NEVER boost bass or treble. The most tone control messing I’ll ever do is occasionally turn the bass down one or two notches due to speaker placement making the bass too boomy. I had to do this with some modern speakers when I used to live in an apartment with lots of hard surfaces and super thick walls, and I do it now with the Sansuis because the lack of tweeters makes the a bit muddy.

My bedroom McIntoshes never need any tone control fiddling and just sound magical, although I’ll sometimes use the loudness button when playing at very low volumes to get a little more clarity and definition to the sound. I’m guessing I won’t tone control at all once I fix the Sansui tweeters.
