Has anyone owned this or listened to it? Seems a pretty strong value, will be mated to a Scoutmaster with Ortofon Cadenza Black mc cart. Main line stage is AR Ref 3, amp is Musical Surroundings Aesthetix Atlas tube hybrid amp....Vandersteen Wood Quattro speakers.
Thanks for any experienced opinions.

No, I haven't heard one. However, if you were a tube purist you might want to look at it more closely. It has a high gain setting of 60dB but there aren't enough tubes to give that much gain. The pictures seem to show ICs on the circuit board.
Still, if you're not a purist that won't matter and its highly adjustable input loading might be a big attraction.

Ended up getting a deal on a Audio Research model 6 tube phono pre unit I couldn't pass up on so I bought it. The Manley looks sweet though!

I was just going to point out there is a Chinook on the 'Gon for $1600.

I hope you got a really good deal on the Audio Research PH6!

Yea I got one brand new from authorized dealer for a very good price....not comfortable stating price but hard pressed to think anyone would not agree it was a great deal.
Its for my dads system, so he is handing me down his Musical Surroundings Phonomena NOVA DC powered unit. I'm gonna flip my Phonomena 1 unit. My dads the music lover not the audiophile so he tells me what he wants, a budget and I do the leg work and get his old gear......works well.for both of us lol.

I just recently picked up a chinook and I'm
super happy. Sounds far far better than any phono preamp I've owned....so that's a deff win to me. It's laid out and constructed with very quality stuff overall. But I was a bit shocked to spot some cheapy Illinois brand capacitors in the mix though... I'm not all that convinced there are magic capacitors but it seems a little odd to find such low quality parts along high end components.

Illinois caps are good caps. They probably make them to spec for Manley. The very expensive Lamm gear use Electrocube caps. Many people think these are cheap because they are not the boutique brands. The truth is these are cap manufactures that most likely can make anything the designer wants. You can't judge the cap by the cover, you have to listen to it.
