Marantz 1060 Integrated Amp Value?

Seller says it's working. Provided photos show it to be clean, no dings, wood grain metal cover.
Asking $220. Normally I get a good idea by looking at sold items on the bay, but the prices for the 1060 (not the 1060B) are all over the place $100-$500. Seems some people will pay a premium for the Marantz name. I've never owned Marantz and $220 seems high for a 30 watt/ch amp.

In all seriousness that unit looks nice and clean and that's probably a fair price.
 
The higher prices probably included the wood case that can add $100-150. When i bought mine a couple of years ago they were selling on ebay for $200-220 without case $300-350 with. I havent been watching prices lately but im sure they have gone up since then. $220 would be a good price
 
$220 is high but think about what you're getting.
It is a Marantz and is built like a tank. It will last a long time if all normal maint. has been done like caps.
Mine is going on 45 years and except for a recent cap job it runs fine. Sounds good too.
Not many things I have are functioning at all after 45 years.
 
I recently picked one of these up and cleaned it thoroughly. Beautiful unit inside and out, used it as a pre-amp for a bit in my main setup, wonderful, full rich sound.

I followed a few sales on eBay and was surprised to see them selling in the $300 range for clean units that worked well, no recapping, etc....

$220 seems fair, although in my area would not sell at that price.
 
Prices

Depends on where you are.
Prices are rising for good looking working units.

The 1060 is high on the fan boy list of Marantz units.

$220 won't buy anything new that is built to last, can be serviced or is even worth a damn.

If your thinking is "$xxx for an old stereo?", then you're thinking wrong.

In 2-3-4 years, someone will see this post and think, "WOW, only $220. wish I could get them for that price".
 
Thanks for the replies. It must have been worth the $220, it was gone before I had a chance to read all the replies after sleeping in late today.

I could rationalize and give the situation some sour grapes -
a.) I didn't really need it.
b.) I'd probably still prefer my what I've already got.
c.) It would have put me on a search for a matching tuner, not even sure what would match up - a 110 or a 120?
d.) I saved myself some time and money.

But I'll be honest - he who hesitates is ......, ya snooze ya .......... ,

It doesn't compare to the set of Infinity RS 4b's that I passed up at a garage sale.......... my wife won't let me forget that one.

And that points out another rationalization,
f.) I'd have to look for a wood case like yours.

And I really don't have a spot to show off that nice wood case, so it would have been a waste,
yeah, I've just about got myself convinced that I didn't need it.

PS. Please don't post any more photos of a 1060. It may scar me for life.

I have to balance that with limited space and a limited budget.

I hear you. I have an HK-3390 Receiver and an AT-LP120 that I bought new about 4 years ago. They have less than a year of use on them, and now sit high upon a shelf in my garage in their original packaging. The 3390 was first replaced by a Pioneer SX-1000TW and then a Kenwood KA-8006. The AT-LP120 was first replaced by a Kenwood KD-3070 and now a Pioneer PL-530.
 
1060 was my entry into the world of vintage hi fi. That was in 2007. Won't say how much I paid (except it rhymes with nifty!).

The sound it produced bettered a later aquired Peachtree Nova by a fair margin. 80watts per vs 30 watts...who would have guessed?

The 1060 recently started to show its age. Into the shop it goes to the Wizard in Duvall. The 1060 has a permanent place in my humble collection and I'm pretty excited to hear it restored.

If I were in the market, I'd get a subscription to Barter Town and keep an eye out for one or place a WTB ad.
 
Bumping this older thread with a humble brag. I saw a 1060 with wood case on CL down the coast from me for $175. Described as working and some light scratches were visible in photo, but faceplate and knobs were perfect. Listing had been up for 3 hours and I figured it was already gone....but no! Got it home, bought some Howard Restor-a-Shine and fired it up. Works with only a small dose of Deoxit to remove some noise. Howard's is great as the surface scratches disappeared. Emailed the guy later in the day and he couldn't believe how many calls he got about the 1060 after I picked it up. Yep, no duhhh.
