Marantz 1060 vs 2235B

I've got two 1060's and one 2235. I know the 2235 has a speaker relay that delays connecting the speakers for a few seconds after turn-on. The 1060's don't have this delay and continue to play for a few seconds when the power is turned off. This leads me to believe that they are not all that similar internally. I've read that the 1060 is capacitor coupled; is this true for the 2235B also? If not, what are the differences and which is the 'superior' model.

At this point, I'v tried both and they sounded good. I cleaned up the pots and switches on the KA-9100 I got with the other amps. I think it's the better sounding amp, but I'll have to try it on different speakers. Thanks.

I have a 2235B and it has the more advanced/modern "full complementary symmetry" direct coupled output section. I believe the 1060 has the same capacitor coupled amplifier design as the 2230 receiver so the 2235B has 5 more watts and half the THD of the 2230/1060. I have never listened to a 2230 or 1060 so I have no opinion which would sound better but the 2235B is a fine sounding receiver.

2230 input

Just picked up a 2230 for a small system in the den, and I think it is a nice clean sounding reciever. I picked it up due to the response here. It has been called the sweet spot of the Marantz 22XX series on numerus forums I subscribe to. Nice clean warm sound. IMHO

I've got twq 1060s. As the 2230 has been called the sweet spot of the Marantz 22XX series in numerus forums, with that "nice clean warm" sound, the same can be said of the 1060 in the 10xx series of the Marantz integrateds.

The 1060's phono stage is excellent, and although the 1070 and 1090 are more powerful, there seems to be better synergy overall in the 1060's layout and design- a close to perfect match between the pre-amp and amp components.

The 1060 is indeed capacitor coupled, not direct coupled. Thought to have a big effect on the overall sound.

And a good one, at that.

That's why I have two of 'em.
