Marantz 1060 with Airport Express Audio In

Hello, I am using the 2nd Gen Apple Airport Express (A1392) to feed in the AUX on the 1060. The cable is a standard 3.5mm (from Airport Express) to RCA stereo cable. I read that the Airport Express has 2.0volt so it is best to keep the audio on it around 70% (in airplay). However, even that quite frequently will cause big noise and distortion. I am wondering whether it is just not good for the amplifier. Anyone else has similar setup & experience? Thanks, Frank

Hi Frank.
I've done that before--but it's been awhile I usually just use a mac mini to directly connect and use an external HD to store the music files on as that is best.

Now, what problem are you having? All music is distorted or just some? If it is just some, set iTunes to equalize output. If it's all sound, then adjust it downward.
I make my own interconnects and do use ready made cables.

Also, set the equalizer controls to either off or acoustic in itunes. Try one, then the other and see how that works. Base output can be overwhelming if it's set to "Rock" or "hip hop".

Thanks! Symptom is distortion/popping noise after amp volume beyond 10 o’clock. I am AirPlay flac files.
does it do this with other inputs? Do you have another input to test it with?
If it does it with other inputs you likely have some bad capacitors in there.
