Marantz 1070 + 2235B (pre/power) any good?

Hi guys I have a 2235B marantz receiver and I might get a 1070 amp anytime soon, as it's a good deal, I've been thinking to hook them together as pre/amp, is that possible? any benefit in doing that? (anyway it's ok for me I can at least have them both operational). Thanks!

If you have pre-out jacks on the receiver then yes. But the 1070 is only 5 more watts per channel. You might not notice a difference. The 1070 is a direct coupled amp. If the receiver is a capacitor coupled amp then you might notice a difference in sound. Im thinking the 2235B is direct coupled as well. If there are three large caps in the receiver its cap coupled. If only two then direct coupled. The1070 is a nice integrated amp.
 
I've just taken a look and, yes, I've got pre-out and main in connections in the 2235B (not an expert, never did this interconnection). Not sure about the capacitors, should take a look inside.

Thanks about your feedback on the 1070 @Lavane ; my goal in the end would be to build some 1070 + power amp (140? if it ever appears in the market) + tuner setup.

The 140 would be a good match for the 1070. I have two 140's. The 1070 looks just like the 3200 preamp thats a match for the 140. I also have a 1060 integrated that I use as a pre for the 140. It sounds better than the 3200 pre I have. Ive been keeping an eye out for a 1070 myself.
 
Good info! I will try to push this 1070 deal forward and team both amps up until the 140 appears (hopefully) in the market.
 
Thanks for the tips @Lavane !! Here's a PIC to share with you, the 2235B as power amp for the 1070 running as pre (with only the speakers connected to it).
At least I get to use both, and the look is fantastic :D
