marantz 1070 HELP

Elwood

hi -

picked up a Marantz 1070 integrated amp.

first the relay seemed slow to pop in but amp was working and sounded great ...now the right channel has no output. for a while it would pop in after 5 minutes or so.

i took the cover off the relay switch and cleaned contacts with some deoxit and paper between contacts...still no right channel. left is fine. cleaned all pots except balance as slider is hidden behind a plate) no static in any pots or sliders

relay seems to be working as current is passing though on both sides

i am not a tech, but have recapped some amps so know how to check voltage and solder etc

any suggestions on this amp? should i start with pulling outputs? actually i guess i need to look for cold solder joints too. oh, took another preamp and ran to main inputs and same issue, so issue on amp board

anyway just wanted to see if anyone knows any components prone to mess up or provide advice?

oh what does the ambience switch on back do for the second set of speakers? never seen that
thank you!

it a sickness you know!

Connect left pre to right main in and right pre to the left main in with jumper RCA cable. If your problem switched side then the problem is in the preamp. you have to work on the pre-amp. If problems remain in the right then the main amp has the problem.
