Thank you, I really like it!Nice amplifier as others have said you have endless options, if it was me I’d go for something with a more forward/brighter presentation as the Marantz is pretty laid back and warm sounding…the Fyne sp502 would be nice alternatively consider some floor standing speakers from triangle, focal or Cabasse
Thank you, will definitely take a look! Here are some personal threads. https://www.audioshark.org/search/8419/?q=502sp&o=date
I love my 502SPs. Very real and in the room presentation. It is a very different speaker with the tweeter in the center of the mid driver. They replaced much harder to drive Dynaudios. MLs are a whole different animal as mentioned. Fynes seem to play well with a lot of electronics.
Lots of love here for all models - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1179253549118134
My wife does not approve..I heard a pair of Eminent Technology LFT-8C speakers at a dealer in Chicago a few months ago. Incredible speakers if you don't mind the size. They go for about $5k per pair.
The dimensions appear to include the base. I just measured mine and checked the specs.Thank you, will definitely take a look!
Can you do me a favor and let me know the actual speaker width? From online specs it's not clear whether they include the base or not.
Also, did you consider Tannoy at all? I'm also looking at Stirlings, and those look very tempting as well.
Lastly, your Fynes are driven by 1150 or you use some other amp?
Very nice amp! I wonder if 502sp would be too much for my 1150.The dimensions appear to include the base. I just measured mine and checked the specs.
I did not consider Tannoy as all the main people left and started Fyne Audio and the SP models along with everything 7xx and up are made in Scotland. I did hear a pair of Canterbury's driven by a Viva amp and they were nice. Fyne now has the Classic line that keeps the tradition going.
I drive my F502SPs with a Luxman 505UXII Integrated conservatively rated at 115wpc.
Shame I can't demo them for you.
The 502 and 502SPs cabinets are 9 3/4 inches wide not counting the base. Your Marantz will drive them but just like with any higher end speaker, the more you give it the more it shines. Speakers are usually always the best upgrade and then later you upgrade the amp when you want.Very nice amp! I wonder if 502sp would be too much for my 1150.
In any case, what is the width of the speaker without the base, if you don't mind sharing? The Stirling's are a bit too wide for our space, but 501/2sp seem like a good fit
Thank you, that is a perfect size for our room. I’m assuming 501sp would be around 8 inches wide then..The 502 and 502SPs cabinets are 9 3/4 inches wide not counting the base. Here is the Fyne version of the Sterling, but even wider. https://www.fyneaudio.com/product/vintage-ten/
I have heard people compare and like the original line better.
