Hi,

Am going to pick up a Marantz 1150 Int-amp. Apparently doesnt work. Seller says that the power light comes on, but no click. Mentioned it might be a bad relay. How does one check for this and are there any other things to look for? I am a novice at this, so any help is greatly appreciated

Most likely a power supply issue. If it was just the relay, seller would have replaced it. Trouble shooting the PS is more involved and you can't tell by just opening the hood and taking look.

Looking futher, the transformer may be bad. To check the transformer, you'll need the service manual for the correct voltages. Another way is to remove the transformer, connecting the TR to AC then measuring voltages at the TR's output. Similar voltages are a good indication that the TR is good.
