Marantz 1150D Snap Pop!

Hi gang,

I have an 1150D that send a power surge through both channels at power on and off and makes a loud pop just prior to the relay clicking in or off (power on or off)

I have rebuilt the power supply P800 (replaced all caps and trs 2 x 313 and 1 x 507)

I have also replaced caps and relay on the relay board.

This happens when using pre-amp outs to an SAE 2200 power amp.

Any thoughts?

When using the Marantz by itself the speaker relay is supposed to mask all noises until the amplifier circuitry has settled. If you are using it as a preamp then the SAE's speaker relay is supposed to do the same thing PROVIDING you turn the Marantz on FIRST, wait a few seconds THEN turn on the SAE. If the SAE has already timed in you'll get all kinds of nasty noises when the Marantz is turned on. Pre on FIRST, power amp on LAST, power amp off FIRST then pre off LAST.

So here's one for the Marantz experts.....

I also have a Marantz 1070 which does exactly the same thing!!!

I tested with several other pre outs on Pioneer receivers, Sansui amps among others and no issue whatsoever, weird eh?
