Marantz 1152DC / 1180DC - How do you clean the rotary Tape Monitor Switch

I have a recently acquired 1152DC Integrated amplifier. I'm cleaning the controls as they are very scratchy and touchy.
The tape monitor switch is the most problematic. It looks to be enclosed with some openings and sits right next to a circuit board.
Can someone shed light on how best to clean this with Deoxit?

For those interested, I put a very small amount of deoxit in the holes pictured, I was worried about it getting on the circuit board. It worked fine.
