Marantz 1152DC Balance & Tone Control Problem HELP!

Hi All -- I have a Marantz 1152DC amplifier with balance and tone control issues. If you slide the balance control all the way to the right, I get signal in both L&R speakers, but when I slide it all the way to the left, I get almost no signal at all in both L&R speakers. Also, it appears that the tone controls have no effect on the sound whether the tone defeat is in the on or off positions. Any advice with solving these issues would be greatly appreciated.

The Marantz balance controls usually have a center detent, not sure about that model though. Can you tell if any repair work has been done?

Thanks for the response. It appears that someone has replaced the balance slide control before, the installation looks to be okay, but I don't know if any other repairs have been done in the past.

i meant make sure you didnt connect to 2 rights . check internal if not .
The speaker connections are all in the correct positions. While listening to the unit in stereo mode, I have no stereo separation, as if it were in mono out of both L&R speakers. This occurs when the balance is set all the way to the left or in the center, but when it is moved towards the right, it fades out the further towards the right I go till there is no signal. Also, I noticed that when the pre-out main-in jumpers are removed it makes no difference, I still get the same amount of signal whether they are connected or not.

Thanks -- John

i think pre mains are internally switched and dont need jumpers . to prove this insert a rca cable into pre or main . the signal should be cut off then .

Well the Marantz 1152dc mystery is solved! Under closer inspection, I located a few corroded traces on the preamp board, then ran small jumpers to reconnect them.
Thanks guys, for the help!
