Hello! You've done wonderful work with your Marantz. I just got one from Grandpa, he bought it in Germany in the 70s it's in great shape and he even had the plastic thing on the front to protect it.

The only sad part is the beautiful light blue bulb on the front died! Do you guys know where I can get a replacement?

hi everyone,

I've acquired a Model 1250 very recently. It's in pretty good shape.

I've an issue which is really bugging me with this amp is an almost dead right channel.
There's hardly any sound output from right channel for almost 30 mins every time when I switch it ON. Afterwards it slowly comes alive. This issue is there on every inputs except phono1. (Ph1/Ph2/Tuner/Aux) While playing via phono1 its fine.

Later on, I've found that when I press Tone defeat button on the face plate the right channel suddenly comes alive and it can sing as long as the Tone is defeated. Pressing again on Tone Defeat (activate tone) the right channel goes dead.
I've also observed a popping sound from the right channel every time when I switch off the power button on the amp (even though the volume is at min).

Hope someone here can help me understand the problem?

I've already posted this query earlier in a different thread in AK.....but once I've found this thread and read through it, finds more appropriate to post here.

You should start your own thread on this but in the meantime clean/Deox all your switches and controls as that is most likely your main problem.

Bob

I've WD 40 specialist contact cleaner spray.
Will that be gd enough for cleaning pots, switches and PCB or I should go for DeoxIt?
It's almost impossible to find the latter where I'm staying!

Do not use WD-40:yikes:

Use Deoxit your local Rat Shack should have it. Also Guitar Center has it if there is one nearby.

Well not regular old WD40 anyway! Your "specialist" contact cleaner might be okay. For sure I'd try to get the DeOxit D5 spray. Last time I ordered mine through Amazon so you may try that.

It seems most of you have got gd results with DeOxit D5 spray. So I'm gonna get one and start work the obvious thing first....cleaning!
Can I use DeOxit D5 to clean the PCBs as well(some soldering points are brownish and it's quite waxy too)?

NO!!!! Don't do that! You can pick the worst chunks off then clean it with alcohol if you'd like. It will take multiple passes. I'd recommend getting it all working well first though.
