I got a line on a marantz 7T and model 15 amp, the gentleman is asking $1200. is this a good, fair, or over priced? they look great and have wood cases. and would it be fair to have them checked out by a tech before purchasing?
thanks for the input.

Based on a look at a proprietary online blue book and a survey of completed transactions on ebay, I would say the price is below actual cash value and a good deal -- providing the pieces are in the described condition including good working order. If I were buying this equipment, I would substitute a tryout at the seller's location rather than putting the pieces into the hands of a tech the seller does not know and trust. In the final analysis though, the essence of the deal is in the ultimate real quality of the pieces versus their selling price. You have to decide what you have. It is possible the only effective way to determine that is by having a tech evaluate them.

I have always had an inordinately compelling attraction to Marantz starting with the Marantz 19 and 2270 receivers and overflowing into utterly debased idolatry of the 2500/2600 mega receivers and the 2130 and Esotec st 7 tuners. So you have my blessing to go get em! I only hope for your sake they are what they seem.
