Marantz 18?

That's too bad he didn't sell but if he ever decides to let him KNOW that you want to be notified first. There will be others.

If you have something trade-worthy, see if the owner would be willing to do a deal for some cash and a different receiver to use in-shop.

Marantz 19

I would have grabbed that thing if it was still there on the second visit. Not risking someone else grabbing it. I made a 6 hour trek to pick up my Model 19 including 2 ferry rides.

Do you like your 19? Well I assume you do from the text of your post. Have you ever compared it to any other recievers? I have been looking for one but I am not sure if it is worth the chase. Also, did you ever compare it to a Marantz 18 and if so, how did they compare?

Is it possible to run a sub-woofer off a Marantz 18 along with some Bose speakers? Or is the output for regular speakers the wrong frequency level?

I just found out from a local audio pro that with a self powered sub, I can run a "Y connection " off the Marantz 18's "tape record output", (it is constant), so any other component will run through that tape record output.

You don't want to use the "tape" output, it has a fixed output and you sub's volume will not go up and down to stay matched with the Bose when you raise or lower the 18's volume control.

In your case, best to look for a "powered" sub that has "speaker level" inputs and get the signal to the sub that way via the 18's speaker posts. Understand, you are not driving the sub with with the 18...the sub has it's own amp powering it, it is just getting the signal from the speaker wire and not the rca jacks.

I suppose you could hook up a passive sub to the 18's "remote" speaker terminals and the Bose to the "main" and then select "both" on the front panel. Me...I wouldn't. Good luck, the 18 is special.

your new Marantz 18 deserves a far better match than a a subwoofer paired with a couple Bose speakers...
I know. I came home with a $35 DEAL OFF Craigslist:L Sony receiver(150w + 2),SONY 200 CP, AND SOME KLH AV5001B'S. THE WIFE LOVED THE SOUND SO MUCH it's replacing the living room and I get the scraps....:tears:

I just bought some POLK AUDIO Monitor Series 7 Speakers for the Marantz 18( is going in a smaller room). I have a Realistic STA-52 with stock speakers($10 bucks garage sale,)woofers replaced w/Paradigms for $20 off ebay, in my 8 x 12 motorcycle shed, sounds great, bass outside in the ground. The Bose and sub are going in the Radio Shack (storage).
