Hey guys! I recently acquired a Marantz 2015 from a friend's dad. He had it stored away in a seal storage shed in his backyards. I brought it home, plugged it in and no lights came on. However, I tried to hook it up to my set up and it actually turns on and sounds great. There's a local record shop that also services vintage audio equipment that says they can replace the lamps as well as do a full service to it for only $75. To me, $75 sounds like a great deal, seeing as I got the thing for free. Is there any reason to believe why this isn't a good deal? I'm not too savvy with electronics as far as wiring and soldering goes...any advice would be super helpful!

Lights are pretty easy change out if you are the slightest bit handy. I bought a light kit on the bay, but there is a forum member that has them also. I did all the air/vacuum of cobweb/smoke/etc cleaning on mine, the light change, and deox on the controls and enjoyed the process. It is at a local shop now for a 38 year old checkup, and alignment things that I didn't have the equipment to do at the house. I have $69 in the basic checkup/align without any parts. Mine is the 2218, but I would imagine pretty much the same as yours under the hood.

It depends on what they consider a full service.In my opinion $75 will pay for what you can do at home for $15 (a can of deoxit) lights will be extra Work all the controls back and forth many,many times in the meantime to loosen up and clear.That aside I had one at one time and really liked it.
