Marantz 2110 FM Drift

Hello,

My 2110 drifts enough for me to lose the station within 1 hour. The Oscilloscope power supply board has been recapped, but the FM board is untouched.

Is FM drift a common issue on the 2110 ? Any idea which component might be causing the drift ?

Thanks,

Alex

Like most Marantz tuners and receivers, there is no AFC in your 2110 to control the frequency of the local oscillator to keep it tuned in exactly to a station. Most 'drift' is usually due to changes in temperature. I did see a tuner that drifted badly because the tuning capacitor was dirty. You could read this thread about how to clean yours, that might help. Say thanks to dr*audio.

Thanks, It looks really clean inside but i'll give it a try and let you know.
Do you know Where I can measure the LO frequency so I can see the extent of the drift and if there is any improvement after cleaning ?

I just gotta say I've had more than a few Marantzs that had fair to poor fm reception.
I followed dr*audio's tuner cleaning thread and was very pleased with the results.
Picked up stations much clearer and lower and upper formerly dead sections on the dial came to life.
