Marantz 2215b Balance Slider Won't Work

Hi, I'm dealing with a new pickup here and bought it knowing full well that the volume knob produces static/cuts out (Deoxit to the rescue) and that the balance slider is inoperable. Will contact cleaner also be the solution to this failed part?

Even dirty it still has to operate if you work the pot from one end to the other a few times, otherwise the pot may be broken or its slider connection is interrupted; could be a bad solder joint.
 
Hello Ak1337azn, Welcome to AK. If you need the owners and service manuals, you can find then on HiFiEngine.com. https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/marantz/2215.shtml. Just register and download for free. If you have a DMM measure across the balance pot. Remember to turn off the receiver and unplug it from the AC line. You can measure across the wiper (moving contact) to each side of the pot to check for resistance.
 
The slider for the balance control needs fader lube. Contact cleaner is to strong for the slider. You more then likely have a wire off or an open in the trace inside of control.

Thanks for the welcomes!

I tried testing the balance feature the other day and realized that the sound was actually coming through after all (albeit with static and scratching). Just took some contact cleaner and lube to the three rivets behind the slider and it did the trick! So happy right now.
