Marantz 2215B Preamp Out?

In my Solid State thread, I am rebuilding a Dynaco ST-120 amp that I got from my brother in his 'I'm Moving, Giveaway Pile". Sadly he already took the PAT-4 to Goodwill. It's in the wind.

BUT, he has a Marantz 2215B that I may be able to get, and I thought, this might make a good preamp, driving the ST-120 to higher levels.

My 2245 has the PRE-OUT PRE-IN jacks on the back to easily accommodate an external amp. BUT, NOT SO on the 2215B.

I wonder if intercepting the drive into the P700 PA board would work? I would not drill or anything, just intercept and take the power off the PA board .

Crazy idea? with my pricing, would be cheaper than trying to find and fix a PAT-4 or PAT-5 preamp and I'd get a tuner in the deal? Someday when I find a Dynaco preamp, I can finish the 'vintage Dynaco' station but have this in the meantime???

Thoughts? Technical advice if NOT crazy!

In comparing the schematic against the flow chart for the 2230/2245 which has the MAIN IN / PRE OUT jacks, it would appear that the preamp section and amp section on the 2215B are on the P700 PA board ... it would require picking off the signal on the board, and board surgery is something I wanted to avoid.

Oh well... thanks for the bandwidth ...
