Hi AK,

i have a 2215b that i'm about to recap.
while waiting I have been using a NAD 7020e in its place.
I really like the warm full tone of the 2215 but enjoy the detail of the NAD.
questions is- Can I expect more detail (like the NAD) after I recap my 2215?
your thoughts
thanks

I can't compare the sound of a 2215B with the 7020E as I'm unfamiliar with that NAD receiver.

However, I fully restored my 2215B and it sounds much cleaner/clearer/more detailed than it did before the restoration.

Thanks for the reply Rasputin
What caps did you use?

Quite an assortment of capacitors went into my 2215B:
I replaced all of the small value caps - 1uf or less - with Panasonic stacked film caps.
Panasonic FM or FC on the power board where they had the correct values.
I don't recall what I used for the filter cap - will have to check that.
I used Nichicon FG and KZ audio grade caps on the power, tone and phono boards.
On the tuner board I used Panasonic FC or Nichicon PW if there wasn't an exact value in FC.

That said, any good quality capacitors should make a noticeable improvement in the sound quality.

Let us know how you make out with your re-cap.

The NAD is under rated IMHO on the WPC . I think the NAD will still be the better receiver. But the 2215B is no light weight and will greatly benefit from a recap.

I like and use the FC's also.
